An assessment, not a fine

A naheffingsaanslag parkeerbelasting is a tax assessment. The municipality levies parking tax; if you do not pay it (or pay too little), it levies afterwards — hence "naheffing". Legally this differs from a traffic fine, which is why the procedure runs via an objection to the municipality and not via the CJIB.

The scan car plays a big role here: it checks licence plates and generates the assessment when no payment is found.

What makes up the amount?

The total amount is built from two parts:

  • The parking tax owed — the tariff you should have paid, often for a full part-day or day.
  • The cost of the assessment — a fixed amount the municipality may charge, with a national maximum.

That maximum is indexed each year. For 2026 it is set at € 82,00. Municipalities may charge less, but never more than this legal ceiling.

The dagtekening sets your deadline

At the top of the assessment is the dagtekening (issue date). Your 6-week objection period runs from that date — not from the day you opened the letter. Note it immediately, because it decides whether your objection is on time.

What can you do about it?

If the assessment is wrong, or you did pay? Then you object. You do not have to pay immediately if you request a payment deferral in your objection. Unsure whether you have a case? When a scan-car assessment is wrong helps you judge that.

MijnBezwaar.nu assesses your case for free and files the objection on your behalf with the right department of your municipality.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the parking-tax assessment in 2026?

The amount is the parking tax owed plus the cost of the assessment. That cost part has a 2026 legal maximum of € 82,00. Municipalities may not charge more than that.

Is a naheffingsaanslag the same as a fine?

No. It is a municipal tax assessment, not a criminal or Mulder fine. That is why you object to it with the municipality.

When does the objection period start?

From the dagtekening (issue date) on the assessment. You then have 6 weeks to object.
